✧These pieces exhibit mild daylight fluorescence. Daylight fluorescence is a phenomenon where there’s an evident color change in a mineral under sunlight versus indoor lighting. These pieces will have a gemmy green color indoors & a (darker) blue/green color outdoors as a result of UV rays from the sun. Fluorite that experiences daylight fluorescence is sometimes also known as “color changing fluorite.”

✧“First discovered by collectors Lindsay Greenbank and Mike Sutcliffe in an abandoned 19th century limestone quarry during the early 1970s, the Rogerley Mine is to date the only mine operated on a commercial basis solely for specimen recovery in the UK… Specimens of green fluorite, often associated with galena, have been recovered from discontinuous mineralized flats on both the east and west sides of the vein.”
